Có một điều quan trọng về The Sims 3 mà nhiều người chưa biết là tác giả Will Wright đang dồn công sức cho Spore, do đó ông không tham gia phát triển phiên bản thứ 3 của series cuộc sống ảo này.
Nhưng đây cũng chính là dịp để Rod Humble, giám đốc xưởng Sims của EA cùng đội ngũ nhân viên của mình đưa những đặc điểm hoàn toàn mới vào game, biến trò chơi mang nhiều đặc điểm của thể loại nhập vai hơn là một xã hội trực tuyến.
Trong The Sims 3, bạn vẫn chỉ điều khiển một ngôi nhà, nhưng bên cạnh bạn, tất cả những người hàng xóm cũng sẽ phát triển theo, cũng thay đổi, kiếm việc làm mới, phát triển các mối quan hệ và tiến bộ theo cùng nhịp độ với nhân vật chính, bất kể bạn có để ý tới họ hay không.
Một khu vực trung tâm của thị trấn với các quán ăn, cửa hàng, hiệu sách, công viên, shop thời trang, rạp hát... là nơi để sim lui tới hàng ngày, cho dù ở thời điểm game được phát hành đầu năm 2009, hầu hết những nơi này chỉ có vỏ ngoài. Nhân vật có thể vào các cửa hiệu, nhưng người chơi không thể vào theo... Đây có thể là đặc điểm được EA để dành cho các bản mở rộng về sau.
8 thanh biểu kế truyền thống của The Sims thể hiện các nhu cầu ăn, uống, đi vệ sinh... đã biến mất, nhưng điều đó không đồng nghĩa với việc bạn không còn phải chui vào toilet nữa. Thay vào đó, khi nhân vật muốn "giải quyết", trên đầu anh ta hoặc cô ta sẽ hiện ra biểu tượng "tâm trạng"... Các sự kiện như nụ hôn đầu tiên hoặc được thăng chức sẽ còn lưu lại hiệu quả rất lâu dài cho sim.
Bên cạnh khả năng lựa chọn nhân dạng linh hoạt (The Sims 3 cho phép bạn toàn quyền tạo ra cơ thể của nhân vật từ to béo phục phịch cho đến vạm vỡ rắn chắc, người chơi có thể tạo ra hàng trăm kiểu người khác nhau), từng Sim người lớn giờ đây có thêm 5 kiểu tính cách khác nhau với khoảng 80 đặc điểm để lựa chọn.
Đối với người chơi có xu hướng thích trang trí nhà cửa, The Sims 3 cũng cho phép chỉnh sửa màu sắc, hình dáng của rất nhiều đồ vật.

2. Install Sims 3 (Use Keygen) plus 1.22.9 patch
3. Install World Adventures (Use Keygen) plus 2.17.2 patch
4. Install High End Loft Stuff (Use Keygen) plus 3.13.1 patch
5. Install Ambitions (Use Keygen) plus 4.10.1 patch
6. Install Fast Lane Stuff (Use Keygen) plus 5.8.1 patch
7. Install Late Night (Use Keygen) plus 6.5.1 patch
8. Install Outdoor Living Stuff (Use Keygen) plus 7.3.2 patch
9. Install Generations (Use Keygen) (No patch needed for this one)
10. Install Townlife Stuff (Use Keygen) This will update the main game to version 1.23.65
11. Install Pets (Use Keygen) This will update the main game to version 1.26.89
12. Install Master Suite Stuff (Use Keygen) This will update the main game to version 1.28.84

15. If you just re-installed from scratch, copy your save folder back to

INSTALLING THE SIMS 3 STORE DLC
INSTALLING THE WORLD'S AND BUILDINGS
1. Copy the "Electronic Arts" folder in "World's And Buildings" to your "My Documents" folder.
2. Extract .RAR files of the World's and Buildings you wish to install.
3. Open Sims 3 game launcher and install content.
4. Close launcher
INSTALLING SIMS 3 STORE DLC
There are 3 variations of the store content that have been released
Here is the install methods for each type.
USE ONE METHOD ONLY
USING MORE THEN ONE METHOD WILL PRODUCE DUPLICATE ITEMS
INSTALLING THE SIMS 3 STORE DLC (Sims3 Pack Files version)
Installing the DLC content this way will allow you to choose individually the items you wish to install.
1. Copy the monthly update rars you desire to your "My Documents" folder
2. Extract the .RAR files of the items you wish to install.
3. Open Sims 3 launcher and install content.
4. Play and enjoy.
INSTALLING THE SIMS 3 STORE DLC (Package Files version 1)
Installing the DLC content this way allows you to not need to load the game launcher to install DLC. Version 1 of the .package files separates the content by the month of release.
1. Copy the "Electronic Arts" folder to your "My Documents" Folder.
2. Extract all the month's DLC you wish to use.
3. Play and Enjoy.

Installing the DLC content this way allows you to not need to load the game launcher to install DLC. Version 2 of the .package files separates the content by the year of release.
